ST KILDA BIRTHDAY PARTY | LIFESTYLE PHOTOGRAPHER MELBOURNE

We love to celebrate. In fact, you could say we are professional celebrators.

Your Private Chef, as a catering & Events business, is all about creating unforgettable food experiences. So when the time came to celebrate our son’s first birthday we thought why not make this a really big affair.

Chef David’s birthday is only two weeks after our little drummer dude, and our little girl turns three a week after that. With three big birthdays in four weeks, and some pretty exciting things happening in the business, we thought why not take the opportunity to invite all our favourite people to enjoy this special day.

This day was held at the St Kilda Lawn Bowls Club, one of the wonderful venues we love to work with in Melbourne. We also took the opportunity to launch a new family-style dining menu, “More Protein Please”. And all in perfect style…our new French provincial buffet style, complete with floral arrangements.

It was also the perfect occasion to launch our new kids styling range – with our super cute table grass creature centrepieces and colourful tableware, complete with gorgeous yellow garden chairs and even a few dino-chairs in the mix!

The Junior Foodie menu was a big hit too – featuring all the favourites like mini cheese burgers, home-style chips, our famous secret recipe sausage rolls, cheddar bites and carrot sticks, complete with fruit to end.

Then came the sweet buffet. How to decorate a sweets table for a little boy, a girl and a big daddy? With an elegant Alice in Wonderland Theme using our Regal High Tea style. There was plenty of crystal and roses and mad hatter cakes. Guests loved the beautifully detailed mini cupcakes, Cheshire cat cookies done in edible gold paint and the moist delicious fresh berry sponge cakes! It was a table fit for a king…or a princess and a little dude.

It was many a weekend spent scouring the fabulous opp shops around Melbourne to find the perfect vintage mix of props. I even managed to find some vintage lawn bowls and turn of the century books to create this look!

It was a perfect day spent bowling casually in the afternoon sun, with St Kilda Sports Club even looking after the juniors with their new kids bowling balls, followed by an 80’s dance tutorial by Ms Donna Flex – which had all the kids (and grown ups) working up a sweat to the likes of Kylie’s Locomotion and Tina’s Nut Bush. In a brilliant throw of genius, a Juke Box just happened to be in our hall…endless hours of entertainment for the little ones.

To carry on the musical theme, we then got a little cultural with our one-man band Mijo Cica banging out the Croatian tunes, paying a little homage to our family’s roots.

All in all it was a fabulous day, made even better with the hard work and support of our crew of chefs and wait staff and of course the very talented Mr Jadrijevic who captured the relaxed family feel of the day absolutely perfectly. He really was the most lovely and unobtrusive paparazzi – always there to capture the moment and yet never in the way.
